Sunday at Cedar Key dawned chilly and overcast, the clouds low to the ground and threatening rain. Tom and the girls slept in while I attempted to figure out how to embed flickr in my posts. Frustrated, I gave up and read my latest book and viewed Facebook to see how our friends are fairing. Around 11:00 FaceTime called to a long chat with our daughter’s family. Only Ben and Nate were home, Owen was working, but they filled us on their activities. Ben has been running well at the track meets and Nate has been a frequent scorer for his soccer team. Both are doing well in school…Nate currently has an A average for the quarter. Alisha was busy preparing their Easter dinner, and Todd, her husband, join in the conversation. After lunch, we called our Son’s family to see what the Easter Bunny brought our youngest grandson, Gus. Well, the Bunny gave him arrows for the new compound bow he received from his Grandpa R for his upcoming birthday. Gus was his usual charming self, mugging for the camera while we chatted with him and his Mom, Amy. Our Son, Steve, made a cameo appearance.
Still cloudy outside, we settled into a relaxing day of reading and playing on the computer. I took a quick dip in the pool and chatted with a couple from Washington State before talking the dogs for a lengthy walk while Tom napped.
Dinner, was at the historic (founded in 1859) Island Hotel and Restaurant. We chose a table on the porch so we could people watch while eating. The food was excellent. The lobby of the old hotel has not been modernized, the old registration desk was backed by a wall of pigeon holes for guests mail and keys. We peek into the packed bar and I read a notice saying that Jimmy Buffet played here in the 1980s.
After a walk around town, it was back to the RV park and the girls. Monday will be a long driving day as we go north to Atlanta, GA.
