We arrived at Bar Harbor, Me on Thursday afternoon following a drive up from Freeport, ME. The weather was great, clear skies and sunshine. Our campground is lovely, very forested with many small sites for tents and small campers in the middle and larger sites for big rigs on two sides. It was a no reservation drive in and fine a site campground. Ours is very nice under some trees with full services. The people are very friendly and there is a wonderful ice cream stand next door.
On Friday morning we heading into the park for the day stopping first at the Welcome center for our park pass. The park charges $20 entrance fee, good for 10 days, but one of those lovely perks of getting old, we have our Senior National Parks pass that gets us in free!
Taking the park road we cruised along stopping at a few overpasses to take in the unbelievable views. There was a cruise ship in port at Bar Harbor, unfortunately we could not see the name. The road wound through forested land then opened unexpectedly to a view of the bay on one side or Eagle Lake on the other. Jordan pond was our first stop. The pond was formed by the Wisconsin Ice Sheet during the last ice age. The water is clear to a depth of 45 feet. Looking south across the lake you will see two matching mountains called the "bubbles". Jordan House is located at the pond is famous for its pop-overs and said to be a must stop when visiting the park

Further along on the park loop we viewed a beaver pond complete with two houses.

Lighthouse. During extreme weather the waves wash completely over the island.
