Traveling by RV does allow us to save some money by eating in, however, Tom and I do enjoy meals out especially if they are somewhere special. In the past week, we visited two of these special places.
The first was Bake Alaska, recommended by our friends Neil and Connie, in Astoria. The restaurant was located on the waterfront with a fabulous view of the Astoria Bridge and the ships anchored there. Then there was the food! We each had their Kobe beef burger with spicy tomato marmalade, parmesan, pork chop, house bun and malt vinegar fries. Simple indescribable! We managed to eat half.
We found Tad’s Chicken a Dumplings in Troutdale, just around the corner from our RV Park. A true 50s restaurant, nothing had changed from the knotty pine walls to the period tables to the great neon sign out front. Situated on the river it was beautiful and the food was great too. I went for the signature chicken and dumplings and for Tom the smoke salmon fettuccine alfredo.
Yes those are 2 softball size dumplings on top of delicious chicken & gravy.
