Road Fogies: a couple of fogies traveling with their poodle

First Day at Fundy

Thursday, September 4, Tom and I left Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor for New Brunswick, Canada. We crossed the border with ease. The official asked a few questions, took our passport to check in another building then wished us a good trip. Dividing the trip into two days we spent the night dry camping in the Saint John, NB Walmart. I took the opportunity to do a little grocery shopping and restock the frig. There were two other couples camping there, one from Vancouver Island was on the return from PEI and Fundy Bay heading towards Maine. The other was from Lehigh Acers, Fl, just a stone throw from Fort Myers our winter home. They were skipping Fundy and heading to PEI for a stay.
I booked us a site in a campground in Fundy National Park only a short walk from the edge of the bay. After settting up the Molly the Motorhome we walked over to the Visitors Center to check-in. Tom was going to wait outside with the girls but the ranger welcomed them in. The two women in the center are both dog lovers and one is going to get a standard Poodle/Burnese mountain dog mix in a few weeks. They made a big fuss over the girls.

The tide was out when we arrived, high above the bay we could see dry land far out. Looking for a way down we walk to the hill to the town of Alma, just a few shops, restaurants and lodgings. There we could d walk out onto the rocks and sand, at least .5 mile out. The tide at that time was beginning to come in and so did we. The walk back up the hill was much steeper than the walk down.

After dinner we returned to the overlook to find the water completely covering the shore and moving up the distant cliffs.
