Road Fogies: a couple of fogies traveling with their poodle

Leaving Seminole

Yesterday morning, April 3, 2015, we took our leave of our winter home at Seminole Campground, and began our trek north. Tom has been busy for the past week preparing our rig for the trip. He found compartments for all of our outdoor stuff: rugs, camp chairs, tables, our little frig, grill, etc. He clean and polished the RV and truck. I pack away the loose things inside, finding homes in cupboards for all of the little everyday stuff. We had celebrated with going away parties for all of our close buddies, Pan and John Cook, Tom and Jean Moore, Gayle and Don Pietz, and finally us, leaving only Janet and Dennis Bragg to turn out the lights when they leave in May. We were ready!

OK, go through the checklist! Window closed, bins locked, cupboards closed, loose items stowed, RV feet up, slides in. Oops! Slide one will not move! Nothing, not a sound, not a click, it just sat there. Recheck everything. It should work. Call Thor. Check all the connections and fuses. Still nothing. Then here comes Dale, the Spock of all things electrical. Calm and logical he follows the wires under the coach to an unknown, to us, connection. Yea, the slide moves in. Final hugs and kisses with Dale and Linda Hosler and Neil and Connie
Laubenthals. We pay our rent and are on our way.

After an eventless drive north we arrived at Cedar Key RV Resort. Cedar Key is located in the northwest of Florida know as the Nature Coast. It is a lovely little town not yet overrun with tourist and fast-food chains. The food here is excellent! We had a yummy dinner at Robinson’s Family restaurant, I had crab cakes and sea bass and Tom the grouper (only 13.95). I am not a fan of the Hush Puppy but the ones Robinson’s serve are delicious. After one last walk around the park for the girls, we retreated to the RV to evade the mosquitos and no-see-ms.

Today we will take the kayaks out into the bay for a few hours then dinner at Tony’s (best clam chowder ever) for more local seafood.
